Free money for the team
Gift Aid
Gift Aid is a UK government scheme. If you pay UK tax and you tick the Gift Aid box on JustGiving, the team claims an extra 25% from HMRC on top of what you gave. It does not cost you a penny more.
The only condition is that you have paid at least as much UK Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in the tax year as every charity will reclaim on your donations. The box is on the JustGiving form, so there is no separate paperwork.
It takes one tick and it costs you nothing. Across every donation made, it is the cheapest extra money the team will ever raise.

Where The Money Goes
Mountain rescue teams in England and Wales are charities crewed by volunteers. Nobody on the team is paid to turn out at three in the morning. Every penny raised here goes to Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team, and none of it pays a wage.

Straight Answers
Who receives the money?
Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team. The donation goes through JustGiving to the team, not to Nick. He does not take anything out of it.
Is it secure?
Yes. JustGiving takes the payment on its own site. This site never handles, stores or sees your card details, and it will never ask you for them.
Can I give anonymously?
Yes. JustGiving gives you the option to hide your name from the public list of donations. The team still receives the money exactly the same way.
Can I donate after the finish?
Yes. The page stays open. The team is on call every day of the year, so a donation months afterwards is worth the same as one on day one.
What if he does not finish?
The money still goes to the team. Your donation is not a bet on the outcome. Ten days of this can end with an injury, and if it does, nothing about where the money goes changes.
Does any of it pay a wage?
No. Mountain rescue teams are run by volunteers who hold down normal jobs. The money buys equipment, training and the cost of keeping a team ready to turn out.
